eric posted on July 7, 2010
July 23rd has been set aside to allow participants of our inaugural Origins Event to serve the city in which we are gathering (i.e., Los Angeles). We have the following 3 great options for involvement!
1. Fred Jordan Mission with Cue Jean-Marie & Willie Jordan (10am to 7pm)
- Description: Fred Jordan Mission has been serving the homeless for over 65 years! Come and join us for a day of serving at this great ministry on Skid Row. Activities throughout the day will include prayer in the community, advocacy, mission ministry (e.g., Services, Bible Studies, Kids Ministry, Worship, Food Distribution, etc.), and a celebration outreach in the evening.
- Gathering Location: 445 Towne Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90013 (Map)
- Main Contact & RSVP: Cue Jean Marie (Cue.Jean_Marie@newsong.net)
2. Community Development & Caring for the City Learning Tour with Charles Lee (10am to 7pm)
- Description: This learning tour is designed for those currently working with or desiring to work with their cities in community development and local care. We will be learning best practices from city leaders and organizations that have a proven track record of care. We will be visiting several locations throughout the day to see first hand the kind of work that is making lasting impact. Guest speakers will include Joel John Roberts (CEO of PATH), Chad Mayer (Executive Director of ShareFest), and many more.
- Gathering Location: New Hope LA 1700 W. Olympic Blvd in Los Angeles (Map)
- Main Contact & RSVP: Paul Kim (emailpkim@gmail.com)
- Notes: Please wear comfortable shoes, bring your own water, and try to carpool if possible.
3. Central City Community Outreach with Jesse Ross (10am to 3pm)
- Description: Did you know that the fastest growing segment of the homeless population are women and children? Come join us as we partner with Central City Community Outreach, a grass roots organization that knows nearly every family living in the Skid Row district. Located in the heart of Skid Row and serving the children and families in the area on a daily basis, this is an opportunity for all of us to make one day count!
- Gathering Location: Central City Community Outreach
- Main Contact & RSVP: Milena Kazarian (mlkazarian@yahoo.com)
- Notes: Please wear comfortable clothes, bring bottled water, money for lunch, and a journal
All are invited for dinner and a special event at the Fred Jordan Mission at 4pm! More details to come!
Serving opportunities are free, and participants do not have to go to the July 24th event at Club Nokia. Sign up by emailing the contact person listed above.
If you are attending the July 24th training event then register here. After you register, you will receive an email from us to sign up for the lunch conversations, mini-breakouts, parking, and service projects.

I have already signed up for Origins along with my co-worker and wife, but haven’t received an email to sign up for the lunch conversations along with the Breakout sessions in the lounge. When will I receive this?
Thanks,
Steve Pyfrom
Hello Steve! You should be receiving an email from belinda@mosaic.org soon. If you don’t, email her for the list. Lunch conversations and mini-breakouts are filling up fast and priority is given to those who purchased All-Access passes and then those who registered the soonest.
So excited you are coming! See you soon!
